- The main issues that lead to homelessness is due to Mental illnesses, Self medication (drug abuse), Gambling, lost their job and Domestic Violence.
What are their lives like?
- Dave describes them as ‘Rough Sleepers’ (as they have no bed). They are hopeless, depressed, trapped, violence, desperate and confused.
Who is helping these people?
- Organisations such as the ‘Salvation army’ and ‘Mission Beat’. Mission Beat deliver food to the homeless as they cannot pay for these basic necessities.
How does Dave experience ‘shed light’ or bring awareness to the issue?
- Dave’s experience aimed to raise awareness about the aspects of homeless people’s life. He outlines why people are homeless, how they may have first became homeless how they approach maintaining the basic needs in life, e.g food, water, shelter, warmth and money. Dave also strives to persuade people that more attention and support is needed to be given to the homeless.
